Susana Behar is an award-winning Cuban/Venezuelan vocalist who creates world fusion sounds by blending popular Latin American songs with evocative Sephardic music. She has lived in Miami since 1983 and has performed throughout the US, South America and Japan. She received the 2015 Individual Artist Fellowship Award from the Florida Department of State. Her music was featured in the Ruth Behar’s documentary ‘Adio Kerida’. In 2012, Susana premiered ‘Of Essence and Time: Flamenco Sephardi’, an interdisciplinary work created in collaboration with guitarist/composer Jose Luis Rodriguez and dancer/choreographer Niurca Marquez. Susana produced two CDs: ‘La Galana y El Mar’ (2009), ‘At The Crossroads-Live’ (2015). She received a Master’s degree in Biology from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. She is a member of the AJC Latin American Task Force-Miami, sits on the Advisory Board of the CAJE Adult Learning/Melton, was a board member of NEXT@19, and is a past Chairman of WIZO Yonit.
