NIGGUN-ology: Sounds of Serenity & Mindfulness

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Niggun (ni-gᵊn) literally means 'a musical tune,' but has become synonymous with a soul-stirring, mind-altering, sometimes wordless melody. Niggun has been essential to academic and experiential Judaism since the beginning of time—we know one of the Bible’s most ancient interpretive commentaries is its own ‘trope/tune,' and worship in the ancient Temple was accompanied by symphonic music. In this session, we will discover: the unique spiritual and therapeutic powers of music; the many styles and genres of Jewish music composed throughout history; music as a universal language and meditative tool; plus how you can use music to improve your mood, health, character and life’s experiences. Even if you consider yourself tone-deaf, you are not soul-deaf!
