If It Makes You Happy: The Talmud of Positive Psychology

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

The rabbis of the Talmud are sometimes seen as a stern, scolding set of people, intent on day-to-day particulars, but not on life's majesty. It turns out this unlikely set of thinkers were some of the first practitioners of "positive psychology," the brand of psychology that's all about living a fulfilling and meaningful life. In this session we'll study an ELI talk by Dr. David Pelcovitz that combines science with Jewish thought, learn about what really makes us happy, and figure out how Jewish wisdom can help us make 'happy' happen.
