Israel and Latin America: A Complex and Dynamic Reality

Despite the distance separating Latin America and the Middle East, countries in these two areas have developed close relationships. Even prior to the establishment of the State of Israel, various Latin American governments had developed positions towards Israel that reflected their own dynamic ideologies, changing economic interests, and shifting pragmatic decisions.  This session will analyze these ongoing and evolving relationships, with a special focus on the impact of the recent Hamas crisis.

Juan Dircie is the Associate Director of the AJC’s Belfer Institute for Latino and Latin American Affairs.
