Two verses in Leviticus have been used to justify a harsh rejection of homosexuality. Why? Rules cannot be intelligently and fairly applied without a sense of their intended aims. As an openly gay Orthodox rabbi, Steve Greenberg will explore four rationales for the prohibition of sex between men that appear in the traditional sources, each offering a different perspective and a different frame for a reconsideration of the law’s application.
